Former Instagram model Essena O’Neill recently posted a video about why she was quitting social media that caused quite a stir in the online community. Even though the original video is now off YouTube, there are plenty of others who continue to spread her message. You can view the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe1Qyks8QEM
Even though the video isn’t fun to watch, it raises some important topics. In the video, an emotional O’Neill lets the public know that her social media fame led to nothing but insecurities and self-judgement. Prior to the viral video, I had never heard of Essena O’Neill but I’m glad that I did.
Sometimes you have to leave the house naked. Yes, you heard me right. Well, okay, maybe not in your birthday suit but by exposing that bare, beautiful face to the world.
I can picture you shaking your head or rolling your eyes and coming up with some excuse as to why you are the exception. Why you are the only person who has something that has to be covered or altered in order to feel comfortable leaving the house without makeup.
And that’s precisely the issue I’m trying to address.
It seems to be our family’s annual tradition to hike the Doi Inthanon nature trail during northern Thailand’s cooler months. Doi Inthanon is Thailand’s highest mountain, at 2,565m. above sea level. The nature trail is around a 2.5km hike (which takes about 2.5-3 hours to complete) at an altitude of about 2,200m. It’s a beautiful trail that begins in the forest, which opens to an alpine meadow, hugs along the mountain ridges and returns back into the forest. Hiring a guide is a requirement and the national park charges a 200 baht fee for the trail.
Seeing the sakura blossoms in Japan has always been on my bucket list so I was so excited to hear that I’d get to see my motherland’s very own version of it. Thailand has its own type of cherry blossoms that produce beautiful pink blossoms during the cool season. The full bloom only lasts for a few weeks so visitors from all over the country head up north to see them.
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds. To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”

I received my pictures from a spa shoot I did for Anantara and wanted to share it on my blog. What a gorgeous spa and a lovely team to work with. Spa days, whether in a “real” one or at home, are one of my favourite ways to unwind.
It was a gorgeous day for a hike and I went with my family to Doi Inthanon (The Highest Point in Thailand and the foothills of the Himalaya’s). It was a crisp 12 degrees and there were blue skies all around. I love being in nature!! Here are some pictures from the trip 😉
